Manipur and the front page of the Hindu

The Hindu it's a national here one of the first bit pro BJP but it's a national sort of like the Telegraph, anyway front page story was the strike in Manipur, even the paramilitaries were going to go on strike for the enforcement of a paydeal. The minister had said it would bankrupt the government to do so so instead he was enacting a strike breaking law and said if anyone really wanted to go to prison over this and leave their families unprotected and he really couldn't understand why any responsible person might with to do so well he'd happily lock them all up for a while. So he broke the strike. Then in another column a minister has been kidnapped by the Kuki hill tribe insurgents with whom there has been a long term ceasefire only this time the ransom demand 150 crore something big was published and the police involved rather than just paying them off. Then they pointed out that the Kuki resistance had taken the government cheques paid as compensation to some hill tribals for land seizure. They had only asked for half but since the tribals said no if we give you half we won't be able to buy enough land with the money they decided to take the lot and apparently people are now saying well why is it a ceasefire if they still get to terrorize the populace and the paramilitaries get to do the same. It just seems to be an agreement that they won't hassle each other any more while continuing to rape murder and extort from the people. It's going to need something special to bring peace and love to manipur. I don't think they respect those who inherit wealth there given that it's so easy to get wealthy just by kidnapping someone and or taking their government uncrossed cheques.

But difference is this time it made the front page of the Hindu.
